I took lots of inspiration from this video as they had key features that we discussed in the beginning of the planning stages. Here I took direct inspiration as I used a very similar image in my video just at different angle to the original.
Again I took direct inspiration from the video in this screenshot. I loved the quirky images of the older people within the Depeche Mode video and tried to incorporate that in my editing. I tried to directly link the inspiration and replicate it well within the video, here on the left is the shot from the original video and on the right is from my edit.
In this video there are some beautiful examples of black and white footage and some interesting ideas for shots. As we were brainstorming about using a car and trying to get footage from that and of it moving, this video has some good scope for ideas on how to frame it.
Also, because its an older music video, it gives it a crackled-like look to it which we also spoke about, for this we thought about trying to mimic the use of a super 8 camera or trying to find effects that will make it look similar.
Ideas- car Much like in the video Never let me down againwe like the idea of using a car but to fit with our neish audience we would try to use a more retro style car. They used the car to create many interesting stylised shots.
FINAL CUT PRO X CAMERA EMULATOR PLUGIN To try and recreate the old style back and white effect used in Depeche modes video Never let me down againwe have found an FCPX plugin for $50 (32.56 British Pound) to replicate the style of a super-8 and 16mm camera.
Ideas A current idea is too use Depeche modes french new wave approach. We appreciate their unusual styling and that each shot is very stylised and simple. The framing is also bazar as unlike most music videos that use the average centre and off centre framing they cut central I especially love their video Never let me down again
There is an air of confusion as the sequence of events is non linear and random especially the opening of the lead singer and old man. Another point is that lip-synching doesn't occur through out the whole video only at random moments.
