Finally I have located a space to film the abandoned building scene in. It is near Leeds in Rodley and contains many open plan rooms as well as an underground car park. For this shoot we will need photos of sly antics, 3 masks, 3 chair's and a one of their posters. These are some photos of the space we will be filming in.
We had an idea of wanting to use slow motion within our piece. After looking at different examples of this we decided that sometimes it can be seen as very cliche, but when its used with some aesthetic sense it can make a music video very beautiful much like this video. Many Pixies videos use slow motion and in my opinion they are all brilliant example of how slow motion can be used to create an interesting piece of work. Also in this video the use of masks really intrigued us as we thought about using the idea of narrative enigma in our piece. This combined with the slow motion makes the piece much more sinister and seems more mysterious. We thought that we could use masks and different styles of costume to connotemystery.
The pixies video Where is my mind also uses a black and white approach whilst also including a strange and random story line of a dog. It is unclear of what is happening much like in depeche modes non-linear videos.
It seams as if the black and white approach is on commonly used by alternative artists.
The pixies also use a non linear approach in their videoSnakes, by using random places and objects whose purpose are revealed later on.
Use of masks
Pixies have used masks in a series of their music videos for example in the music video Snakes, this creates an air of mystery which encourages the viewer to watch the view again to try and make more sense of it. It is also a quirky and arty approach which what I'm after. They have used this again in their music video Silver sail to create the same effect.
