GENERAL VIDEO ANALYSIS 1

General video analysis 1
Katie Perry- California Girls
Snoop dog
Featuring (ft Snoop dog): This video includes another singer/rapper within the video its self so a collaboration between two artists.
Puppeteering: Snoop dog controls Katie Perry as he is the omniscient role and she is the doll, this in a way creates a sexist message within the video as the male is seen as dominant and the woman submissive.
Puppet
Close up shot: This is a common convention of all music videos to emphasis the main role of the lead singer, however this occurs for both artists within the video but focus more heavily upon Katie Perry again showing her to be the lead singer within the video.

Sexual: Male gaze is used within the video sexualising Katie Perry as you can see her naked torso in the image provided. This is to appeal to a male audience.
Animation: To follow on the quirky out of this world feel of the video animation is used, one example of this would be the gummy bears used.
Swearing (profanity): To create humour the supposedly 'sweet' gummy bears are seen as dirty as they swear at Katie Perry, however this is blurred out.
Dance routine: A common convention of pop music videos is to include a dance troop usually filled with scantily clad girls dancing provocatively and it is true within this music video. Again this is to attract a male audience through male gaze.
