Scenes of a sexual nature: To attract a young (teenage) audience sex appeal is included within the music video.
Text: Text is included as the inspiration for the video is taken from the silent movie genre ("with no synchronized recorded sound, especially with no spoken dialogue") this is ironic as this is a music video.
Violence: Again violence is used to appeal to a teenage audience especially male, as Lady Gaga's target audience is a teenage female audience the need to widen the audience through the addition of violence.    
Animation: The out of this world feel is helped by the use of animation adding to the extravagant nature of the film. The over the top costumes also add to this.
